<image:caption>Vintage 1969 Château Bouscaut Located near the small town Cadaujac, the vineyard of Bouscaut exists since the 16th century. First called Haut Truchon, it is renamed in 1929, Château Le Bouscaut after the name of the village. With a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon (50-60%), this wine has truly a left bank profile, completed with Merlot for the roundness and a hint of Malbec. It is a straight and elegant red that will require between 5 to 20 years of aging. This wine expresses blackberry, and raspberry notes, but also autumn notes typical of red Pessac bottles.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Vintage 1978 Château Margaux The 1978 Chateau Margaux is a significant wine for two reasons: that is was the first under the Mentzelopoulos family after acquiring the property and also, it was their best wine in many years. Today it is still going strong. Clear in color, it has quite a deep garnet core. The nose is very seductive with black fruit, leather, scorched earth, a hint of lavender all beautifully defined and quintessentially Margaux. The medium-bodied palate has exquisite balance, the acidity nicely judged, still a little masculine and 'solid' compared to the subsequent vintages under Paul Pontallier, yet fresh and vital. Sure, there is a grittiness and a touch of rusticity towards the finish, but all in all, this represents a great 1978 Left Bank and a signpost that the First Growth was back on the right track after a dismal run of vintages during the 1970s</image:caption>

<image:caption>Vintage 1959 Château Lafite Rothschild Despite stiff competition from the 1961, 1959 was widely regarded as one of the great Lafites. In the view of wine writer Edmund Penning-Rowsell, it was ‘probably the best 1959’ from Bordeaux. 1959, a very hot year, has long been recognised as a great vintage. According to Bordeaux négociant Frank Mähler-Besse, it wasn’t appreciated for a decade or more. His firm re-released the wine in 1975, which happened to be the first year that Decanter’s Michael Broadbent tasted the 1959. The summer was fine, and rain in mid-September was welcome as it brought the grapes to full ripeness and the harvest began a week later. The wines were rich in tannin and quite high in alcohol, but low in acidity. The year is often cited by those who argue that high acidity is not an essential component in a fine red Bordeaux, and that low-acidity years such as 1959 can age splendidly.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Vintage 1969 Château Lafite Rothschild Since 1975, this château, lauded by wine enthusiasts the world over, has been producing magnificent wines under the proactive management of Eric de Rothschild. Lafite’s top wine is not the most outgoing of Pauillac wines, but its exceptional finesse, which appears after 15 to 30 years in the cellar, sets it apart, justifying its Premier Grand Cru classé status. It boasts a wonderful aromatic complexity and exudes a distinctive cedar aroma in particular, which is much appreciated by enthusiasts. Great Lafite vintages seem to be able to defy the decades and never die.</image:caption>
